Goodbye, You Jerk. I've Fallen for Your Substitute

After discovering she'd been treated as a substitute, Miss Rong was furious. She decided to find a substitute of her own and humiliate her boyfriend, Cheng Jue. But she never expected that Bai Su, the lovelorn artsy young man she met while drinking, would be so damn sweet. He was great at housework, fit and strong, sweet-talking and gentle, and better-looking than Cheng Jue. How was he a substitute? He was the god of substitutes! At a party, Rong Shu ran into her ex again, but felt nothing at all. When Cheng Jue tried to needle her, she only said lightly, "Goodbye, you lousy ex. Thanks for helping me find true love." Before long, everyone in their circle knew that Miss Rong had started out pretending to keep a substitute, but ended up falling for him for real. They ignored the gap in their wealth, their relationship blossomed, and together they wrote a romantic love story about a rich girl and a poor boy. Rong Shu thought so too. Until the company's annual party. When the old master of the Cheng family came over to make nice, he saw Bai Su, clutched his chest, and fainted with tears in his eyes. Cheng Jue's father came to throw his weight around. His eyes bulged like bells, and he kicked Cheng Jue, who had been throwing his family name around, down to his knees. Then he respectfully addressed Bai Su: "Uncle." Rong Shu: ??? The Cheng family did have an uncle of senior rank, but wasn't he supposed to be a cold-blooded, money-loving lunatic, and an old man at that? Her fresh, delicious young college student was actually an old man?! Goodbye. Bye-bye. * Bai Su had always had a girl in his heart. He went abroad for six years. When he came back, she was chasing after a dog. But that was all right. He could steal her away. :) [Excerpt captured on 2020/12/29] Theme: Teach love and courage, and heal childhood wounds.
