The Child of Light Isn't a Follower of the Gods!

She saw the child.

The child was white and shone with a gentle light, neither quite a boy nor a girl. It wasn't even human.

The child flew down from the clouds and landed lightly on the ground. Powerful, agile wings bobbed in the air a few times before she realized they were actually a cape draped over its shoulders.

A clear, crisp cry rang out.

A faint halo lit up with the call, encircling the strange creature and spreading outward, outlining every blade of grass and every tree in this barren world.

And outlining her, too.

Then the creature's pitch-black face turned toward her. Snow-white hair, like glowing feathers, swayed gently. Its eyes, made of points of light, shimmered, while the pure colors of its face and arms looked almost flat.

The child looked at her.

Though it hadn't opened its mouth, and its pitch-black head had no human features besides its eyes, though its throat, which might have been called a vocal organ, hadn't vibrated, clear, bright words had already appeared in her mind.

"...Hello."

Ah, what a strange NPC.
