The Dull-Witted Zenin Lady

[201■.06.1■]

/I want to go help my sister.

With a bitter yet tender expression, the grown-up Mai said this to me.

What a hateful person, I thought. Even with such a deep rift between them, she was still willing to give up her life for her in the end?

The bonds of blood are so powerful. They want to kill you.

Will you be happy? Will Maki be happy?

I couldn't help feeling bitter resentment.

But even though she'd already made her choice,

Mai, who held my hand and told me we'd be together forever.

Why were you looking at me and crying?/

/I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Maki, so pitiful and heartbroken she looked close to death, clung tightly to me, unconsciously repeating something over and over.

The smell of blood surrounding her engulfed me. Behind her stretched a trail of bloody footprints.

In the ruined estate, silent as the grave, we were the only living beings.

Her warm cheek pressed against my neck, and the cool blood felt sticky against my skin.

Her anguished voice quivered in my ear.

Don't leave me...? Mm, mm, yes, I understand.

She'd never say those things to Mai.

I felt a little happy. /

/My poor, damp little lamb.

I'm right here. I'm right here.

Hold my hand and have a good dream. /

Good day.
