I Changed My Surname to Gojo, and Now I'm Living Happily

[This one is just for the broader setting, with daily-life snippets posted from time to time. If it gets more favorites, I may consider restarting it as a serialized story.]

The Otherworld Refuge: a huge apartment building where people from all sorts of other worlds can retire and vacation.

On the first day nine-year-old Suzuki Anzu took over the apartment building from her unreliable parents, they told her they were going on a round-the-world honeymoon, and that tenants would move in to live with her and take care of her.

The next morning, on her way to school, she saw a white-haired man standing outside her front door with a hammer. She looked up at the sign on the wall...

"Whoa... When did my family name on the door change to Gojo?!"

The white-haired man in sunglasses looked down and smiled faintly.

And so, on the first day of school, Anzu stood at the front of the classroom, completely bewildered, and introduced herself:

"Hello, everyone. I can't believe my name is Gojo Anzu. I hope we'll get along this year."

And that's not all. A whole bunch of people from the jujutsu world who are ready to retire are on their way here on horseback.

Every day after school, Anzu goes back to the "Gojo house" and watches as the neighbors' homes turn into the "Geto house," the "Fushiguro house," and the "Nanami house."

To heck with this! Where are the real "Kobayashi house" and "Kageyama house" next door?!

Click. The door to the neighboring "Geto house" opens, and a purple-and-white dragon horn pokes out. In a soft voice, she asks Anzu to come play house with her, too.

"Kanna?!"

"No, I'm Geto Kanna now."

Anzu: ?!!

The white-haired man, now wearing a black blindfold, peeks out from behind his own door and crouches there, murmuring:

"Come play with us, Anzu-chan~"

Anzu turns around, looks at that striking head of white hair, grabs a handful of it, and says quietly:

"Then I want to dye this thing green."

One month later.

"Hello, I'm Gojo Anzu. I never imagined that

After changing my last name to Gojo, I'd actually be so happy!"

P.S.

1. A fun, chaotic family sitcom, like a house full of kids.

2. The young heroine has no romance in the main story. I'll write that in the extras.

(All the families are about familial love, so we can rule out 5t5 as a bargain-bin dad.)

3. The refuge is an independent space-time. People from all kinds of worlds can appear in the apartment at any point in their own timelines. You can think of everyone from the jujutsu world as being in an actors' AU: after the show ends (with everyone dying), they arrive at the refuge.

4. There are lots of jokes and references. To the point where even Geto could deliberately draw stitches on his forehead to scare a kid into going to bed.

She opened the cards. Every one showed a boy or a little kid with a completely different vibe.

Suzuki Azusa craned her neck to look at other people's screens: a promising young mayor, SR; a demon king, SR; an invincible werewolf, SSR.

But since she was after the prize money, she was willing to raise even N-rank cards from scratch!

And so Suzuki Azusa began the long journey of building affection with her cards, day after day. Sometimes, late at night, she'd sniffle and tell the cards on her screen how she'd fallen into a puddle again while walking home.

Raising them, raising them until they're all grown up. Building affection is super important!

Whale player: Buddy, just quit the game.

One night, Suzuki Azusa was building affection again, telling her cards with a furious look that the supermarket's free samples had been expired, and she'd had to run to the bathroom three times.

Ding! A text message popped up.

[Six Eyes]: Serves you right~

[King of Sheep]: What's a free sample?

[Charcoal Boy]: Your health matters most!

[Bandage Guy] [Man Bun]...

Suzuki Azusa froze for a moment, then closed them all without expression and went on complaining.

One month later, the game announced its full-dive launch. Players entered the virtual world to raise their cards in person.

Suzuki Azusa arrived at the apartment assigned to her in the game world and opened the door to find several tall figures inside.

They all looked like adults.

On the day the prize money was awarded, Suzuki Azusa was trying to kill a cockroach in the apartment with a slipper. It was huge, and she still couldn't hit it.

So she stood up, put her hands on her hips, and said calmly, "Take it out."

One second later, the entire virtual world trembled.
