Soul Detective [The 1990s]

In 2008, Xu Shiying, criminal investigation squad captain at the municipal bureau and newly named a National Outstanding Police Officer, died in the line of duty. When she woke up, she had returned to ten years earlier.

But she wasn't human. She was an almost transparent spirit.

She met her younger self, Xiao Xu, who had just joined the force ten years ago.

She tried to explain that she was Xiao Xu's future self.

"Xiao Xu, whether or not you believe me, I am you. I can help you solve cases!"

Twenty-two-year-old Xu Shiying had been a city bureau detective for just one year, stuck doing odd jobs. Sometimes, when she messed things up, her superiors would yell at her.

But her luck got even worse when she met an almost transparent "person" who looked just like her. The woman even claimed to be her future self and said she could help her solve cases.

She reluctantly called the other woman Old Xu.

Old Xu had the traits of a ghost. She couldn't be out in the sun or strong light, so she suggested possessing Xiao Xu at night to help her solve cases.

Xiao Xu didn't believe a word of it.

A vicious serial murder case broke out in the city, and the killer kept taunting the municipal bureau.

The entire bureau was on edge, but they still couldn't find a real breakthrough in the case against the criminal hiding in the shadows.

Then, one night, during a tense criminal investigation meeting, Xu Shiying stood up. "I know where the killer is!"

After that, her colleagues at the bureau gradually noticed that Xu Shiying was rather clueless during the day. They even suspected she'd copied the experts' answers.

But at night, she seemed like a different person. When faced with cold cases, she always came up with crucial clues and brilliant insights that left everyone stunned.

The bureau chief promptly ordered that all important meetings be moved to the evening.

A year later, Xu Shiying had become a star police officer, invited by branches around the country to offer guidance.

Old Xu suddenly said to Xiao Xu, "I have a feeling I'll disappear soon. My death is actually connected to a case from ten years ago. I've been searching for answers this whole time. I can't let you die again ten years from now."
