Please Love Me

Everyone says Wen Yunning is deeply in love with Xiao Lanbing, and Xiao Lanbing thinks so too.

So he can skip preparing an anniversary gift, forget Wen Yunning's birthday, and even come home after entertaining clients without Wen Yunning's permission, reeking of alcohol and perfume.

Xiao Lanbing is quite pleased with Wen Yunning's gentle, pliant nature. On their anniversary, he decides to propose.

That evening, Xiao Lanbing is dressed to the nines and looking every bit the gentleman. Before he can even take out the ring, Wen Yunning, seated across the dinner table, lowers his head slightly. Candlelight flickers in his eyes, and his voice is as gentle as ever.

"Lanbing, let's break up."

Xiao Lanbing's face turns livid.

Wen Yunning has known since childhood that he cannot love people. But how can a human being not understand love?

So he turns his attention to Xiao Lanbing. With a prominent family background and an array of talents, Xiao Lanbing is the perfect partner. Even the one flaw everyone else sees in him, his cold and heartless personality, looks like a great virtue to Wen Yunning.

Cold is good. It means he won't fall in love with someone else easily, so Wen Yunning can learn how to love from him with a clear conscience, without worrying about incurring a debt of love.

As time passes, Wen Yunning is troubled to discover that after several years, he still hasn't learned how to love. Rather than waste any more time, he decides to break up.

Less than a week after the breakup, Xiao Lanbing shows up at his door, reeking of alcohol and red-eyed, begging to get back together.

Xiao Lanbing: "I'll do my best to make you fall in love with me again."

But Wen Yunning looks troubled. "But Lanbing, I've never loved you."

Theme: Cherish the good times you once had. Don't wait until they're gone to regret losing them.
