Any fan who follows the Chinese entertainment industry even a little knows that the popular young starlet Dong Huaci and Zhong Qing, the ACE of the number-one girl group, both started out in the same obscure girl group.

When Dong Huaci left the group, evidence came to light that their relationship hadn't been an act for the cameras: they had actually dated within the group for five years before breaking up. It became a huge scandal that drew ridicule and cast a shadow over their careers, setting their two fanbases at each other's throats.

At the time, both women publicly cut off all contact on social media and avoided appearing together unless absolutely necessary.

But while they were dating, they had barely any CP fans, and people dismissed their interactions as fake, manufactured sweetness. At an award ceremony they were both required to attend, Dong Huaci had just received the Best Actress award. Wearing a pair of stiletto heels, she missed a step and fell right into Zhong Qing's arms as Zhong Qing waited backstage.

Zhong Qing's manager hurried over to pull them apart, already calculating how many paid posters they'd need to hire to explain the situation. But when Dong Huaci saw that she'd collided with Zhong Qing, she looked even more frightened than the manager.

She abruptly stepped back, her face full of dismay, and muttered under her breath:

“Oh no... We have to spend a fortune burying another wave of negative publicity.”

Zhong Qing simply took out a white handkerchief and wiped the foundation smudged onto her suit. Her face was expressionless, and she said nothing.

After the ceremony that night, the CP fans were devastated and the solo fans were at war. No one knew that, on a sleepless night, Zhong Qing held the handkerchief beside her face, trying to catch even the faintest trace of that woman's scent.
