[She Pathetically Tamed the Dog]
After her boyfriend dies, Li Wan returns with her child to the young master who once kept her firmly under his control.
The young master used to treat her terribly, but everyone said it was because of what her father had done, so Li Wan was expected to put up with it. But she no longer wanted to endure it.
The night before she ran away with her boyfriend, Li Wan said the most vicious, hurtful things a well-behaved girl could think of to the young master.
She even told him he should die.
But Jiang Jijun was alive and well. It was Li Wan who lost her husband and became a young, beautiful, helpless widow.
But the young master had changed for the better.
Jiang Jijun seemed like a completely different person. His former arrogance and possessiveness had seemingly vanished. He didn't get angry at Li Wan's timid, unreasonable requests, but instead responded gently:
“So, Wanwan, if I accept this bastard... this child as mine, you won't leave me again, right?”
Li Wan nodded meekly. “I was wrong before... I really won't leave this time.”
The young master seemed truly to have repented. He treated Li Wan with all the care and indulgence of a model husband, and, as they'd agreed, acknowledged the child as his own in public. To anyone looking on, they were a happy, loving family of three.
Li Wan thought they could go on peacefully like this, but one sticky, damp morning, the man beside her cried out in disbelief: “Who are you?”
His fingers tugged painfully at her damp hair. Li Wan turned to him. “That hurts...”
The pressure on her head eased. The man's face flushed red, and his expression turned shy in a way Li Wan had never seen before. Avoiding her gaze, he stammered, “Who are you?”
This was another young master.
He came from a parallel world, one where he'd never been changed by that accident and had grown up to be an upright, decent young man.
Li Wan thought “he” would despise the arrangement and bargain they'd made.
But one night, he silently came to her bedside and coaxed her softly beside her neck:
“Wanwan, he's so awful, and he's already old and worn out. Since we're both the same person, why don't I get rid of him and be with you instead?”
His warm breath brushed Li Wan's earlobe, and she couldn't help trembling. The bedside lamp suddenly switched on, spilling bright light over the gloomy expression of the man who should have been asleep.
“Wanwan, how greedy of you. You want a younger one, too?”
He looked at the other “himself” in the room and laughed. “You want to be the side piece, and now you want to take my place?”
Li Wan was a little troubled.
All she wanted was to find a good father for her baby. She didn't really want either of these men.
Content warnings and reading guide:
1. Every man who has been involved with the heroine is sexually inexperienced and devoted exclusively to her. They include Jiang Jijun, the bad version from this world; Qin Jingmo, the heroine's true love and deceased husband; Jiang Jijun, the original version from the parallel world; and several other male supporting characters.
2. The heroine is not a strong female lead. She could even be described as fragile, so readers bothered by that characterization should take note.
3. The bad version of Jiang Jijun in this world has a leg injury. He walks with a slight limp and uses a cane.
4. The Jiang from the parallel world and the Jiang from this world share one body early on. After being sent back, the parallel-world Jiang sneaks over again in his own body. As the author prefers it this way, Jiang from this world is 26, while the parallel-world Jiang is 19, and the body he brings over is also 19. Hehe.
