I'm Just a Little Pink Octopus

A hundred years ago, Sang Bainian, the junior sister of the Shuangji Palace, tried to frame Shi Wanwan, an outer sect disciple, at the Netherworld River. Instead, she fell into the river herself, and her soul lamp went out that very day.

A hundred years later, on the sandy bank of the Netherworld River, a palm-sized pink octopus with two feelers on its head shielded its eyes from the blazing sun

The eldest senior sister of the Xihe Sect happened to pass by and took it home, raising it in the sect's spirit spring. It became the Xihe Sect's mascot.

Unlike the disciples of other sects, the Xihe Sect's disciples were the most relentless strivers of all. Every one of them was ambitious, and there was no backstabbing. Their sole goal in life was to ascend to immortality.

After a little pink octopus joined the sect, they gained one more goal: work hard to feed the little pink octopus.

After Sang Bainian completed the task assigned by the System, she became a carefree little pink octopus. One day, she was brought to the Xihe Sect. From then on, every day, a disciple who had earned full marks on their daily lessons and been lavishly praised by an elder and gifted spirit stones and treasures would come to the spirit spring and call softly:

Little octopus, your senior brother/sister is here to see you! Come eat some spirit stones. Once you finish them, you'll be able to take human form!

Later, the sect elders joined the feeding effort too.

Later still, the Xihe Sect's ancestor, who was said to spend all his time in seclusion and never leave his home, came to the spirit spring with a stack of top-grade spirit stones and spirit fruits. He crooked a long finger at her. Little one, come eat.

Under this force-feeding campaign, it took Sang Bainian just a few short years to take human form.
