That Cocky Guy Still Has to Tutor His Childhood Friend

To avoid summer tutoring, you, a hopeless student, shamelessly pester your cold-faced, cocky childhood friend.

You beg the top student to tutor you.

Just as you expected, your cocky childhood friend sneers at you:

"A single-digit idiot thinks they can pass?"

"Looks like I'll have to tutor you for the rest of your life."

"Keep dreaming."

You're furious and want to jump up and fight him, but then you think of the wonderful summer ahead.

You hold back.

You force a smile, acting ingratiating, obedient, and meek as you promise: "While you're tutoring me, you're the most important person in the world, A-Ying!"

You swear to the heavens: "I promise! Just this once! It won't be for the rest of our lives!"

For some reason, your cocky childhood friend's face grows even darker.

"What?!"

"You little...!"

You take a deep breath, swallow your pride, and keep acting sweet against your will:

"I only want A-Ying to teach me."

-Because my childhood friend doesn't charge tuition.

"Only A-Ying can teach me anything."

-Because you're the meanest, and you pick on everyone indiscriminately!

"You're practically the guiding star sent by heaven to show me the way to study."

-Heh, I'll definitely be so mad at you that I'll stay up all night studying.

The more you say, the more carried away you get. You completely fail to notice that your childhood friend's ears have turned so red he could hide them with headphones, and his mind has gone blank.

Childhood friend: "I can tutor you, but I have one condition."

You: "I agree!"

Your childhood friend turns his back, his voice taut. "You have to do what I say."

If I'm going to tutor you for the rest of your life, this little compensation is only fair.
