My Relationship with My Fiancé Is Rather Unusual

I have a fiance.

My relationship with him is special.

The day I was forced to ask him to take me in,

he casually wrapped a bandage around himself while spitting venom at me:

"You're an annoying nuisance."

"A noisy pest who gets in the way of my work."

"A poor little thing kicked out of her home."

He clearly couldn't stand me, and kept grumbling threats about how he'd bully me if I didn't get lost.

But even while complaining about me,

he would awkwardly yet naturally carry my luggage to my room. He'd make a couple of threats as harmless as a child's, then slip me pocket money while insisting he didn't mean it:

"It's only because I don't want people gossiping..."

He acted as if he couldn't wait for me to get lost.

But I knew perfectly well.

My fiance didn't care what other people said, and nobody dared gossip about him.

To me, his awkward way of showing concern was really strange.

I finally couldn't help asking him:

"Fiance, why are you worried about people gossiping?"

"Usually, I'm the one who'd get blamed, aren't I?"

I jingled the pocket money he'd given me and continued, curious:

"Besides, nobody goes out of their way to give money to someone they hate."

In an instant,

my fiance, who'd been chattering away ever since I walked in,

fell silent.

Fictional plot and timeline

The original work owns all the brilliance; any out-of-character writing is on me.

I wanted to read about a tsundere Dazai, so he's especially out of character.
