The secret was out, and things spiraled in a direction neither of them could control.
Gu Bei left of his own accord, thinking that if he did, the two of them could start over.
But he didn't know that, during the years he was gone, Jing Li had been tormented by depression until she was nearly stripped bare.

Looking at the scars that had already healed on her body, the man finally broke through the resolve he had been forcing himself to maintain. He asked humbly what he could do to make her happy.
Jing Li dodged his kiss and mocked him coldly. “Didn't you say you couldn't love your sister?”
Gu Bei closed his eyes in pain. “Can you still call me your brother?”
Jing Li fell silent.
They both knew that nothing could ever go back to the way it was.
