The Matchmaker Tied the Wrong Red String and Made Me Marry a Killer

● Probably a novella (100,000-200,000 words)

The Matchmaker was drunk and accidentally tied the thread of heavenly fate around the wrists of the God of Slaughter, Jiang Chen, and Chi Yin, the fourth prince of the Vermilion Bird clan.

The God of Slaughter flew into a rage and dragged Chi Yin to the Matchmaker's Hall of Marriage.

God of Slaughter: "If you don't untie this wretched string today, I'll tear down your Hall of Marriage!"

The Matchmaker had no way to explain himself. "My lord, the thread of heavenly fate is a sacred artifact. Even tearing down the Nine Heavens won't break it."

Chi Yin: "Is there any other way?"

Matchmaker: "If you endure eighty-one thousand years of nine heavenly lightning strikes, the thread of heavenly fate will naturally come undone."

Chi Yin and the God of Slaughter were both stunned.

Chi Yin: "I just joined the immortal ranks. I'm only six thousand years old! Eighty-one thousand years? Are you sure I'll live that long?"

Even ascending to godhood requires only six strikes of heavenly lightning. Nine strikes would reduce him to ashes in less than three days.

Matchmaker: "..."

God of Slaughter: "Then why hasn't the heavenly lightning struck, according to what you just said?"

Matchmaker: "If you marry within forty-nine days, you won't suffer the heavenly tribulation. If you wait longer than forty-nine days, the tribulation will descend."

God of Slaughter: "...Then we'll get married first and divorce later."

Matchmaker: "You cannot divorce unless you and the fourth prince have a child."

The God of Slaughter flew into a rage. "So whether I marry him or not, I can never take another immortal as my beloved for the rest of my life?"

Matchmaker: "Your Highness, you can divorce once you have a child."

The God of Slaughter hauled Chi Yin in front of the Matchmaker. "He's a man, a man, a man! Tell me how I'm supposed to have a child with him! If you're so good at talking, why don't you have one yourself?"

Matchmaker: "Please calm down, my lord."

God of Slaughter: "Calm down, my ass!"
