Repaying the Smoke

Before transmigrating, the person Zhong Haishen hated most was Duan Zhaoyan.

Funny enough, Duan Zhaoyan felt the same.

They complimented each other on the surface, but traded barbs every day behind the scenes.

Zhong, coldly: "Oh, Duan Zhaoyan? I know him. The most two-faced guy in the next village."

Duan, fake-smiling: "Hah, Zhong Haishen? I know him. The little weakling from the next village."

The sickly, feeble Zhong Haishen was once told he wouldn't live past seventeen.

He made it to twenty-three...

Zhong, on his deathbed, suddenly sat bolt upright: "That shameless Duan Zhaoyan still owes me ten taels of silver! He hasn't paid me back!"

Then he promptly died, his soul leaving his body as he transmigrated to the modern world.

Their ill-fated connection endured, and he ran into Duan Zhaoyan again.

After transmigrating, the person Zhong Haishen hated most was Duan Zhaoyan.

But...

The person he loved most was also Duan Zhaoyan.
