Soft Thorn

Ye Xun has never placed below first in his major, never worn the same outfit twice, and never dated a girlfriend for more than three months.

He's incredibly arrogant, with an attitude to match.

Everyone wonders what kind of person could tame someone like him.

"What's so hard about that? Give me a month and I'll win him over," Lin Wu says, astonishing everyone. They clap and cheer.

Lin Wu pursues him with spectacular determination.

Even Ye Xun's friends can't stand it anymore. Lin Wu is pretty, sweet, and adorable. Why won't you say yes?

Ye Xun's peach-blossom eyes lift slightly. In a lazy, unhurried voice, he says, "Fine."

On the morning of their third month together, Ye Xun wakes up to find his arms empty. A note lies by his pillow, containing just seven characters:

"I've had a taste of you. Let's break up."

When they meet again, Lin Wu is sporting long, wavy hair fit for a heartbreaker. "So? I said one month, and it was one month. Not a day more or less."

"Lin Wu, you've got some nerve." Ye Xun nearly grinds his teeth to dust. "No one's ever played me like this!"

Later, he pins her against the wall. In the dark, deserted emergency stairwell, the only sound is their lips and teeth meeting.

Ye Xun's voice is hoarse, his low murmur almost a plea. "Could you keep playing me a little longer?"

If I can't have you forever, then I'll become a thorn in your heart.

I won't tame a wild horse. I'll make him willingly bow to me.
