Sorry, I switched to a new version. 2023.8.17
When Su Miao was fifteen, she opened her clinic for business as usual, when a small figure suddenly collapsed.
He was a boy of about ten, dressed in rags and covered in tiny scars. When she asked where he lived and what his name was, he couldn't answer a thing.
She took pity on him and brought him home, teaching him medicine so he could have a skill to rely on in the future.
They were like teacher and student, or like brother and sister.
He was very obedient and sensible.
When she was nineteen, more and more people came to ask for her hand in marriage. But within days, each prospective suitor met with some kind of accident.
Eventually, no one dared to ask again. She had no wish to marry anyway; she only wanted to practice medicine and help people.
She was perfectly content with her little apprentice by her side.
Until one day, a circle of men in black appeared in front of her apothecary. The flying-fish embroidery on their sleeves made Su Miao's eyes turn red with hatred.
Su Shu's face darkened. "Who let you in?"
Su Miao's expression was calm. "From now on, we'll each go our own way."
Just as she had said when she found him all those years ago: "If you're willing, you can stay with me from now on."
The male lead's hand, hidden behind his back, trembled slightly. He said softly, "I'll come back for you."
Su Miao closed the shop and disappeared without a trace.
When they met again, it was the rainy season a year later. Su Miao was attacked by bandits and rescued by Su Shu.
She thought that if this could free him from his obsession, then so be it, even if it meant she would have to be the one to...
A night of abandon.
When Su Shu awoke and found the bed had long since gone cold, his face was dark with anger. He swore he would find her and teach her a harsh lesson.
But no matter what he did, he couldn't find her.
Six months later, he saw her standing beside another man, one hand resting on her rounded belly, her face filled with tenderness and joy.
She showed none of the coldness she had shown him.
"Master, come here." His voice was gentle, even amused, but his eyes were so dark they seemed ready to drip with ink. "You know I don't want to kill anyone in front of you."
