"Give your blade a name."
"The Yellow River comes from the west, breaking through Kunlun; ten thousand miles roaring, crashing into Longmen--
I'll call it Dragon Gate!"
-
At the end of the Zhou dynasty, warlords divided the realm, the imperial court and the martial world became hopelessly intertwined, and a century of chaos raged with the fires of war.
The martial arts had fallen into decline. The martial world waited desperately for someone with dragon blood and open spiritual meridians to ascend Dragon Gate and restore the martial arts.
In the winter of the third year of Qing'an, Dragon Gate opened wide, golden light spilling everywhere. An unknown swordsman became the ruler of the martial world.
What the people of the martial world found hard to accept was that this swordsman had no dragon blood, and his spiritual meridians were naturally sealed and blocked. He should have been incapable of ascending Dragon Gate!
Yan Wennan knew he was never meant to become the supreme master of the martial arts. He shouldn't even have practiced the blade. But he achieved the impossible in ten years, then spent another ten quelling the chaos and sweeping across the realm.
Over those ten years, he slaughtered the thirteen great blade and sword sects across the realm. Countless souls perished beneath his blade, and heaps of bones piled up at his feet. People often asked if he ever felt remorse, but he had never known remorse in his life.
The world could not tolerate such arrogance, so it abandoned him. He fell from the heights, and the treasured blade that had been with him for twenty years broke.
At that moment, he met a youth with dragon blood and open spiritual meridians.

Jiang Xianqiu first saw Yan Wennan when he was seven years old, and watched with his own eyes as the man slaughtered everyone in the Ruoshui Sect.
As Yan Wennan left, he smiled at Jiang Xianqiu, who was covered in wounds, then turned and walked away. For the first time, the living King of Hell had let someone live.
Everyone said that Jiang Xianqiu, the last survivor of the Ruoshui Sect, must hate Yan Wennan with all his heart, and would one day grind his bones to dust.
They had no idea that the person Jiang Xianqiu was most grateful to was Yan Wennan. There hadn't been a single good person in the Ruoshui Sect. Yan Wennan had saved him from a nightmare.
For ten years, Jiang Xianqiu followed Yan Wennan's footsteps across the realm. He watched him reach the peak and earn the adoration of thousands, then watched him fall from the clouds and earn the world's contempt.
When Jiang Xianqiu finally stood at Yan Wennan's side, the spirited swordsman had lost all his passion and gone white-haired overnight.
That winter, Dragon Gate opened again. No one was surprised when Jiang Xianqiu, with dragon blood in his veins, ascended Dragon Gate. But they were astonished when he gave the title of ruler of the martial world back to Yan Wennan.
You were born before I was born. I was born, and you were already old.
All Jiang Xianqiu ever wanted was to see Yan Wennan reach the summit and roam the world unhindered.

"Your life has held little joy and much bitter sorrow. Why insist on standing at a lonely peak where no one will ask after you?"
"Because everyone who once stood there is dead. I have to live. This realm has been in chaos for far too long..."
Wherever my blade passes--
Let the seas part, the mountains topple, and every minister, general, king, and marquis bow their heads!
P.S.
1. Younger gong! Younger gong! Jiang is the gong and Yan is the shou! The gong is sixteen years younger than the shou, but there are some fantasy elements, so the shou looks very young. Even with white hair later, he still looks young! He doesn't age! (shouting)
2. The romance isn't a big focus. The main focus is the plot, and the story centers on the shou. The gong doesn't appear often.
3. An action-packed story: kill gods and demons alike, and fight your way to the summit. The tone turns tragic later on.
4. Both the gong and shou are ruthless, obsessive people. Don't judge them by normal standards.
5. The setting is fictional, and everything is made up. Don't take it too seriously; the author has no sense of logic.
6. Fulfilling a ten-year dream of writing a wuxia story, letting loose and writing for fun.
