The Game's Hidden Boss Has Awakened

Probably a short story. I'm writing something fun for myself~

"Hello, Player 001. High-risk vulnerability No. 113 detected. Please follow the System's instructions to complete the repair."

Bai Xunyu, one of the developers of the retro xianxia game A Sword Asks Heaven, which launched ten years ago, was fixing a bug when the bug sent him into the game.

He and his team had designed every NPC after countless all-nighters. He knew every location and every line of dialogue by heart, but had no idea who the hidden boss he had just triggered was.

The boss could fight, and had even awakened to his own consciousness. He knew he was an NPC in a game, and had the aloof face of a sword immortal. Yet during dungeon runs, he was always eager to throw healing pills at Bai Xunyu, as if Bai were a noob about to die at any moment.

Bai Xunyu: You remind me of someone I knew.

Yan Yueguan: Do tell.

Bai Xunyu: My boyfriend, who died three years ago.

P.S.

1. There are sci-fi elements, all made up to serve the plot. Please don't take them too seriously.

2. Most of the story is about them getting along in the game, so I chose the historical danmei genre.

3. The game isn't based on anything. I made it all up.

Theme: Live optimistically and keep moving forward.
