When Ye Ning was approached by the Star Lord of Fate and told to undergo a trial of love, she was drinking tea with the most respected elder of her clan. After the Star Lord had gone, the elder picked up the lid and carefully skimmed the floating leaves from her cup. "Princess, when immortals and demons undergo a trial of love, most of them end up yearning for someone they cannot have. Remember this: only by letting go can you pass the trial."
"Don't worry, Elder. I've been reading the Star Lord of Fate's finest works since I was little. How could a little romance possibly trap me?" Seeing Ye Ning's disdainful expression, the elder lifted his cup and took a small sip. He said nothing, only smiled meaningfully before speaking again. "I will await your return in the Wilds."
"All right." Ye Ning nodded, then rose and left.
Cultivators across the realms all knew Ye Ning as "Heartless Flora." She used to hate that saying, but later came to be immensely grateful for it. Thankfully, her Huazhao had also taken human form from a plant, so even without Ye Ning, she could still live in safety.
But how can a person know what it means to be heartless?
