An episodic historical detective story about saving each other. Happy ending.
Cases One and Two are complete!
A human-shaped Book of Life and Death / a gifted detective / a wild, optimistic sickly beauty X only one year to live / gentleman on the surface, unhinged underneath / deposed imperial grandson
The young granddaughter of the magistrate of Guiyang County had once been declared "unlikely to live past sixteen." After lying unconscious for days, she finally woke up.
When she came to, she found a Book of Life and Death in her mind.
It showed exactly when each person was born and when they would die.
Qin Suluo: Wonderful. A perfect tool for examining corpses, and I can even tell people's fortunes while I'm at it.
A young gentleman traveling through the region arrived at the county yamen. He was charming and carefree, and his identity was a mystery.
Look closer, though, and there was always a cold, weary look in his eyes.
Qin Suluo: Let's see. Your name is Duan Chengping, and you die... this day next year?!
Duan Chengping: I have a year left? Whatever.
Qin Suluo: ...All right, then.
A double-murder case, an empty coffin case, a nursery rhyme case... The mysteries grew ever stranger and more sinister.
Then, while investigating a massacre, they discovered a mysterious symbol.
It was connected to the string of deaths among high-ranking officials in the capital ten years ago, and to the case that led to the Crown Prince's removal.
Duan Chengping was the son of that deposed crown prince.
A shocking conspiracy, an absurd truth, and a price to pay for uncovering it: their lives.
Joy and sorrow, parting and reunion, life and death are all fated, just as the Book of Life and Death records.
No one can defy it.
Qin Suluo clasped Duan Chengping's hand tightly.
"I don't believe in fate, so I won't let you die, even if it means... trading my life for yours."
Duan Chengping smiled and pushed her hand away.
"It won't work."
He had given her his life long ago.
A Luo, in this life, you'll live a peaceful, happy life to the age of a hundred.
Even if it means I won't be part of it.
Theme: Respect life and cherish it
"He was kicked down by Duan Ziyan." This gave the author a big worm ~ Duan Chengping ~
Ah, I like this second male lead, he's very boyish.
