Leng Yushui is a junior lawyer in her third year of practice. She has a little secret: at night, she transforms into a web-novel author and goes wild writing absurd nonsense.

She writes lawyer novels, starring "Leng Chengbutang." It's a sprawling saga with no logic whatsoever, written purely for her own enjoyment, with no regard for her readers.

By day: She grovels to clients and bows and scrapes to her boss.

By night: Her protagonist punches clients in the back and kicks unscrupulous bosses. Money means nothing to her, and she comes with a built-in intelligence-lowering aura.

By day: Exhausted from poring over case files, she drags her suitcase to court and gets a thorough scolding from the judge.

By night: Her protagonist is a lawyer on the mainland, but can wander around the courtroom in full view, plop herself on a table, look down on the judge, and shout, "I object!"

By day: That lawyer opposing me in court today, Sheng Shi, is good-looking, but way too sharp-tongued!

By night: The protagonist takes on a new lackey, Sheng Shi, who handles printing, copying, driving, and picking up takeout.

Leng Yushui has a problem.

Her novel is so unpopular that practically nobody reads it. After dragging herself home from a long day at work, she opens the website and sees:

She falls into deep thought.

Why is it so unpopular?! Is it because of my surname?!

Still, at least she's had one loyal reader since chapter one.

"The writing is rough, the plot is poor, and the logic is full of holes. It's extremely unfriendly to readers in the profession. I hope the author isn't actually a lawyer, or the cause of the rule of law will face another obstacle."

"Go brush up on your legal knowledge before you come back."

Leng Yushui rolls up her sleeves, ready to argue back, but the next second, she receives a huge tip.

"Tuition fee."

The next day's update:

The protagonist climbs down from the courtroom table for the first time and obediently sits at the counsel table for the hearing.

But she still sneers at the prosecutor. "My fated rival, this time I'll reclaim everything that belongs to me. Just you wait!"

Leng Yushui: I studied up, but not all the way.

I took some advice, maybe 40% of it.

They're forced to work together because of a case.

Leng Yushui turns into a hot-tempered puppy. "Lawyer Sheng, do you really have to work in my office? Don't you trust me to handle this collaboration? The hearing's coming up soon, and I haven't slept in two days because of this case!"

Sheng Shi stares at her for a long time. At last, his handsome brows knit together.

Sunlight shines through the window. Disappointment and anticipation twinkle in his eyes like stars.

"Lawyer Leng."

"Do you know how painful it is to lose your source of joy?"

"Is that why you didn't update your novel yesterday?!"

Note:

1. Lighthearted, silly, full of banter, and sweet. Update frequency depends on the author's mood.

2. Two plotlines; identities are revealed later.

3. No outline, just an erratic work written for fun. The heroine's novel has about the same stats as this one, so she may well reach the end with no bookmarks, no comments, and no chance of making the rankings. :)
