Wildfire (The Hero's Long Road to Winning Her Back)

Yan Jia was a gentle, reserved beauty, a little fairy everyone thought untouchable. Yet she had once had a brief, secret marriage. The two had treated each other with courtesy, but remained distant.

She thought they would never cross paths again, until a charity gala brought Lu Wenzhou, a rising tech tycoon and Jiangdu's most eligible bachelor, into the public eye for the first time. The heiresses of Jiangdu's elite and the actresses of the entertainment industry all tried everything they could to win his favor, only to be kept at arm's length.

Yan Jia had been dragged along by her boss to make up the numbers. Sitting quietly among the crowd, she paid no attention, until her friend nudged her and pointed at Lu Wenzhou. "Hey, isn't that your ex-husband?"

Yan Jia helped her boss secure a major project for the year. The mysterious client behind it was none other than Lu Wenzhou. At the celebration banquet, Lu Wenzhou held a glass of red wine and silently watched as someone led the woman with the impossibly alluring waist into the dance floor. The memory of Yan Jia's delicate, lovely face on their wedding night surfaced in his mind.

For two years of marriage, she had been like a canary he kept in a gilded cage. Surely, all it would take was a beckoning gesture for her to obediently return to his side. But when he looked down from his lofty position and offered her an olive branch, she smiled brightly and said in a gentle, airy voice, "Thank you, Mr. Lu, but no."

Later, he never imagined that one day he would lower himself and knock humbly on her door in the dead of night, as rain poured down, begging her:

"Could we get married again?"

(A second chance at love, with the husband chasing his wife back.)
