Half a Pot of Sand

The Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace died mysteriously in his private chambers, with half a pot of cinnabar left on his desk. The case shocked the entire court. The emperor ordered the Three Judicial Offices to assign staff to investigate, and Cui Qi, a judicial officer at the Court of Judicial Review, was among them.

Cui Qi had recently become famous in the capital after solving several cases. They had all been minor incidents before, but this time the investigation involved the nation itself. Cui Qi returned home in a cold sweat and flung the case files at his younger sister.

"You troublemaker, you've made me carry a false reputation. Here, if you're so capable, go handle it yourself."

Cui Zhao accepted her brother's case files with a bright smile. She immediately changed into his official robes, picked up her own coroner's kit, disguised herself as a man, and set out for her new post, heading straight for the Eastern Palace.

With her own slender hands, she would uncover the truth behind this bizarre case that threatened to embroil the entire court.
