Song of the Heavens

My new novel, *Bright Candle*, is now underway~ In the three hundredth year of Ji Yao’s imprisonment in the Demon-Suppressing Tower, its seal was broken. Amid the chaos, she broke free of her chains and saw daylight once more. Tens of thousands of heavenly soldiers were ordered to capture her. At the Immortal-Fall Platform, Ji Yao raised her head and, basking in sunlight she had not seen for three hundred years, slowly began to smile. The Immortal-Fall Platform was where the Three Heavens punished sinful immortals. Those cast down from it had never survived. As astonished and furious gazes fell on her from behind, Ji Yao let herself topple backward, like a bird plunging into an abyss. The divine race’s records say that on that day, Ji Yao, imperial daughter of the Jiuyou clan of demons, leapt from the Immortal-Fall Platform in the Three Heavens and vanished into nothingness. No one could have imagined that years later, Ji Yao, who should have died beneath the platform, would lead millions of demons from Jiuyou in an assault on the divine realm, her blazing karmic fire consuming the palaces of heaven. From then on, all under heaven would address Ji Yao as their sovereign. The story opens with a fall from heaven and is full of old-school melodrama. If that’s not your thing, please stop reading. P.S. 1. This is my take on a wish-fulfillment story, with a touch of ensemble cast. The heroine is forever teetering between behaving like a decent person and acting like a menace. 2. The male lead is Xie Hanyi. Theme: Hold on to hope and never give up.
