I Only Stole a Healer, So Why Did the Male Lead Turn Evil?

Ning Xia transmigrates into a Western fantasy novel as a vicious supporting character, then finds herself as the hero's evil ex-girlfriend in a male-centered power fantasy.

Her job is to be the one and only emotional stepping stone for Xie Chen, a perfect hero who is poor but principled, refined and upright, charismatic enough to inspire countless admirers, and completely without flaws.

Ning Xia: "I get it. I'm supposed to be the stepping stone, right? Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river, but... I'm a good person..."

System: "Ten billion. Pick any currency."

Ning Xia immediately changes her tune: "Your Highness System, don't worry. There's no woman more evil than me in this whole world!"

Ning Xia works diligently every day, rubbing her hands together as she bullies the young hero. It's so much fun.

Then one day, she sees the young Xie Chen, the aloof beauty from the original story, wearing a handsome, adorable smile as he pins a cannon-fodder character's head down with one hand and beams at her.

Ning Xia: ?

Something seems a little off. She must be seeing things.

Believing that high risks bring high rewards, Ning Xia boldly snatches the young hero's Wangwang milk and downs it in one go.

"Ding! The hero's corruption meter has increased by 1. Three zeroes have been deducted from your reward."

Ning Xia: ?

She steals some milk, and he turns evil? And she loses three zeroes?

To keep Xie Chen on the original story's path as a perfect hero, Ning Xia takes great pains (not really).

Little Xie Chen wears a round, bun-like face. While tugging hard on a bird's wing, he deliberately gives Ning Xia a sweet, adorable smile.

Ning Xia lounges with her legs crossed, looking utterly unconcerned. "There are a few cockroaches over there. Take care of them while you're at it."

Little Xie Chen's smile instantly disappears.

Teenage Xie Chen snaps a rabbit's neck without changing his expression, then carries it over to Ning Xia with a beaming smile.

Ning Xia promptly tosses him a huge iron pot. "Make it spicy, and remember to pluck it clean."

Teenage Xie Chen's expression turns blank in an instant, but he turns around and starts a fire.

Ning Xia considers the hero's return to the righteous path entirely her own doing. She set a good example and taught him to be so upright, after all. So she puts plenty of effort into the scene where she leaves, too.

Xie Chen: "Why didn't you answer my call yesterday?"

Ning Xia: "I was busy."

Ning Xia deliberately sucks a strawberry through a plastic bottle, her expression calm. "I'm going on a trip."

Xie Chen smiles gently. "Have a safe journey."

With the good manners she taught him, Xie Chen never loses his temper. He still gently tells her to come home for dinner.

Ning Xia: This feels great.

Being a bad woman is so much fun!

When Xie Chen reaches the most difficult point in his life, Ning Xia decisively abandons him and throws herself into someone else's arms right in front of him.

The plot is complete. Ning Xia counts on her fingers, waiting for Xie Chen to come settle the score and give her money, so she can claim her reward and say goodbye.

Instead of settling the score, though, he locks her away.

Looking at the long silver chain around her ankle, and at Xie Chen holding her on his lap from behind, stroking her cheek with his chin resting on her shoulder, she hears his gentle, cool voice.

"I'm all you want, aren't I, Sis?"

"You know that, don't you?"

Ning Xia: I don't know! Give me back the upright, kind hero who'd give his evil ex-girlfriend money, cars, a house, and her freedom!
