A Guide to Winning Yourself Over

After sharing a rental with Officer Lin for half a year, Yin Shanyu still couldn't get used to a thrilling life full of the stench of corpses, violent explosions, robberies and kidnappings, neighborhood disputes, cats and dogs fighting...

Or to her housemate's rude and unpleasant personality.

One day, Yin Shanyu finally reached her limit and got into a heated argument with Lin Lu over how to squeeze toothpaste from the tube.

Yin Shanyu accused Lin Lu of having a bad temper, not knowing how to respect people, and being universally disliked wherever she went.

Lin Lu sneered at Yin Shanyu for being shallow and obsessed with fake appearances, and said she'd get swindled out of her money and virtue sooner or later.

Lin Lu declared, "I could trick eighty naive women like you in a month."

Yin Shanyu scoffed. "The only reason you haven't been beaten to death yet is that we live in a society governed by law."

In the end, their argument turned into a bet:

Lin Lu: Give me three months, and you'll fall hopelessly in love with me.

Yin Shanyu: And if you can't do it?

Lin Lu: Then punish me by making me marry you.

Yin Shanyu: ???

Lin Lu was vain, self-obsessed, and arrogant, and her abilities were every bit as impressive as her terrible personality.

She was best at making bold threats and getting away unscathed, and she'd never lost a bet.

The one time she ever fell flat was with the housemate she'd once thought was a little lamb.

Beneath that gentle sheep's fleece was a lone wolf who would bite her throat and tell her she loved her.
