How to Save the World as an Evil God

[Next book: The Inherited Moonlight]

Qi Zhufang is an evil god.

An evil god is chaotic and beyond order, with values completely at odds with humanity’s. It cannot be looked at directly or described.

But when They look at Their own transparent, soft tentacles and the little power They have left, They suddenly fall silent.

Destroying the world is probably out of reach... How about setting a smaller goal first?

Miskatonic University, or Miskatonic for short, has a long history and has always stood on the front lines in the struggle against monsters.

Qi Zhufang infiltrates the university and becomes an investigator skilled in both academics and combat.

To maintain Their image as a top student and make it easier to cause trouble in secret, They have to watch out for a fellow investigator who loves to have fun.

Qi Zhufang successfully picks a fight with that colleague.

...And sets off down a one-way road of “punching mythological creatures and kicking the Old Ones.”

They save the world again and again.

As an evil god, something seems off.

As a double agent, They’re a great success...!

Qi Zhufang gets it now.

[Content warnings]

1. The pairing is with Nyarlathotep, and the male lead is also nonhuman. His stance wavers between chaotic good and neutral.

2. Inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos and the Call of Cthulhu rulebooks. This isn’t strict canon, and includes many original settings and major changes. You don’t need to know the source material to read it as an ordinary fantasy school romance, probably.

3. The author has strange tastes and is gradually letting loose. No offense intended.

Only after Ji You died did Nan Xingwei learn that his nearly perfect boyfriend had many admirers.

They came looking for him.

With hostility, dislike, contempt, and loathing.

They saw him as the sole blemish on Ji You’s otherwise perfect record, and wanted to grind him into the dirt.

A parasitic vine dependent on Ji You, a caged bird kept in luxury by him, with nothing but good looks: how could he possibly deserve the moon in the sky?

But they didn’t know that throughout their relationship, Ji You had been the one forcing it.

Ji You had kept Nan Xingwei captive, calling it love.

And Nan Xingwei had been powerless to resist.

These people, who had nothing to do with him and were connected only to Ji You, and all their opinions and judgments, meant nothing to Nan Xingwei.

All he cared about was the freedom that had suddenly come to him.

Nan Xingwei gave up the inheritance, willingly walking away from the astonishing fortune within his grasp. He watched coldly as Ji You’s admirers tore off their masks and fought each other to get their hands on his belongings.

But somehow, at some point, Nan Xingwei himself became the inheritance everyone had to claim.

The one everyone was fighting over.
