She Doesn't Love Me

Chasing the Wife Back from the Dead / Marriage / Sweet and Angsty

A piece of rich-people drama has recently taken Lin Yuan City by storm: Zheng Jinxuan, a powerful figure in the world of capital, and Ye Ran, an award-winning actress, have joined a divorce reality show.

When the guests were announced, all of Lin Yuan was in an uproar.

Zheng Jinxuan and Ye Ran had been in love for ten years. Everyone said Ye Ran was lucky, wondering what tricks she'd used to beguile Zheng Jinxuan. Back then, Zheng had spent a fortune turning Ye Ran from an unknown newcomer into a hugely popular award-winning actress, and that was before all the affection she showered on her after they married.

Zheng Jinxuan doted on Ye Ran with all her heart. She had done so for ten years.

Only Ye Ran knew that this devoted-wife act was just Zheng Jinxuan's public image.

Over the years, Zheng Jinxuan had been with hundreds of women behind Ye Ran's back. She came home every night smelling of a different perfume, with all kinds of women's hair stuck to her shoulders and sleeves.

One night, Ye Ran waited for Zheng Jinxuan until the early hours of the morning. All that arrived was Zheng's alcohol-laden breath and a bright red lipstick mark on her neck.

The next day, Ye Ran placed divorce papers in front of Zheng Jinxuan.

Zheng Jinxuan's face turned livid. "I won't agree to this."

Ye Ran wasn't surprised. She sneered. "Fine. Then let's go on a divorce show and let the whole country see what you're really like."

Zheng Jinxuan: "Let's do it."

During the one-on-one interview segment of the divorce show:

Ye Ran: "She doesn't love me."

Ye Ran: "She's a serial cheater."

Ye Ran: "No one can stand their partner coming home every day smelling of a different woman's perfume."

Zheng Jinxuan: "She doesn't love me."

Zheng Jinxuan: "I come home pretending I've been out carousing every day, and she never gets jealous."

Zheng Jinxuan: "No one can stand their partner coming home every day smelling of a different woman's perfume. Unless she doesn't love me."

Later, a photo of Zheng Jinxuan looking utterly lost in the pouring rain began circulating like wildfire.

Soaked to the skin, Zheng Jinxuan had Ye Ran trapped so she couldn't move, pleading with a trembling voice for her to come back.

Her body was cold, her breath hot.

Ye Ran was unmoved. She sneered. "Since when did President Zheng learn to cling to someone like this? Are you a dog?"

Zheng Jinxuan moved her lips. "Woof."

"If you'll love me, I'll be your dog for the rest of my life."

Zheng Jinxuan had made a scene for ten years, only to find that all along, she had resented Ye Ran for not loving her enough.

1. The pursued partner is an independent woman with talent and a career of her own, not a kept woman.

2. Two mature, capable women, each other's one and only. Top and bottom refer only to their personalities.

3. Chasing-the-wife-back trope. Happy ending.
