[One-line summary: I found the wife fate had destined for me]
Ning Qiu is a genuinely cocky guy who, one day, gets inexplicably dragged into a System.
The System claims to be an agent of "love and salvation," and his task is to save pitiful souls who have been starved of affection.
With nothing better to do, Ning Qiu raises an eyebrow and says, "Sure."
Then he discovers that in every world, he's a villain adored by everyone, while the pitiful soul gets more miserable with each new world.
In the first world, Ning Qiu is a village bully, yet he's surrounded by a flock of admiring girls.
The pitiful soul, meanwhile, is both a blind little boy who can't see a thing and an orphan with no one to look after him. By all rights, he should be easy to trick.
But Ning Qiu's heart softens anyway, and every day he invites the miserable little blind boy over for a proper meal.
Later, he discovers that the boy only pretended to be blind, though his fortune-telling skills are real.
When exposed, the boy doesn't get angry. Stammering, he says, "I, I knew you'd pass by that day, so, so I waited there for you."
In the second world, Ning Qiu is a wicked ghost who believes in neither fate nor heaven and lives only for his own amusement.
The pitiful soul is a little Taoist exorcist, unloved by both parents and sent up the mountain when he was just a child.
By all rights, a Taoist exorcist should naturally hunt ghosts, but this one always follows Ning Qiu around with a blush on his face, like his little shadow.
Ning Qiu demands to know what he wants, but the pitiful boy says miserably, "I, I know magic. I, I can protect you. Could you stop seeing those female ghosts?"
In the third world, Ning Qiu is the strongest and richest player in a full-dive online game, but he's also a menace who loves going out with a red name and killing people.
This time, Ning Qiu figures it out and goes straight to the beginner village to track the boy down. The worst player in the ugliest clothes is almost certainly the pitiful soul.
Sure enough, on the grass in the beginner village, Ning Qiu finds a silly little level-six player with shining eyes, petting a fake rabbit.
Later, as one public-announcement love message after another appears on the screen, the pitiful boy sobs and says, "I, I will work hard when I'm not playing, earn, earn money to send you messages and buy, buy little pets."
In the fourth world, Ning Qiu is a wealthy student with excellent grades who even owns a house outside the school.
What makes him a villain this time? Oh, he reported everyone in his department who cheated on exams.
The pitiful soul is a little cat he found outside his villa on a rainy day.
It can meow, curl up obediently in someone's arms, and even secretly turn human at night to prepare Ning Qiu's breakfast.
The pitiful soul: "T, TV said that if you want to win someone's heart, you, you have to win over their stomach first! Otherwise, Q, Qiuqiu will be stolen away!"
A cocky guy inside and out who can't stand seeing the pitiful soul bullied, gong x a pitiful, clingy, stammering shou who works hard to win his favor
