No Envy for the Immortals

A thousand years ago, Shen Yu was still a junior member of the Fox Clan when several immortals, who had always looked down on demonkind, respectfully escorted him back to his clan's territory. They also brought several spirit stones specially issued by the immortal realm, a few handfuls of immortal water that could form a lake when poured out, and several jars of immortal pills said to cure every illness.

The Fox Clan was overwhelmed by the honor. After asking about it again and again, they finally learned that while Shen Yu was away cultivating, he had encountered Immortal Lord Qiming in the midst of a tribulation. Shen Yu had given up most of his cultivation to help him succeed in overcoming it.

"Although Immortal Lord Qiming ultimately fell from the path, His Majesty remembered that this little fox was kindhearted and had nearly lost his life, so he specially ordered us to bring these gifts..." one of the immortals said, his expression pained.

A thousand years later, Shen Yu, now quite renowned within his clan, was invited to attend his cousin's wedding banquet in the mortal world. At the banquet, the groom was laughing as he tried to persuade a friend, who usually showed no interest in romance, to spend more time with the young women outside. He had gathered three or five of his closest friends, all of whom had brought their families along.

Hearing the conversation, Shen Yu glanced over with little interest, but then he couldn't look away. His Adam's apple bobbed as he thought, I've finally found you.
