I Won Over the Top Student

Cheng Xinglin feels like he can't show his face at Yucheng High School anymore.

He worked up the courage to confess to Jian Xing, the school's most popular academic ace, only to be turned down.

The whole school has heard about it.

As he prepares to transfer, someone with the same profile picture, name, and WeChat ID as the academic ace adds him.

Cheng Xinglin: The academic ace?! Is that you?!

Academic ace: You could say that. But to be precise, I'm him, twenty years from now.

Cheng Xinglin: ???

Academic ace: Do you still like him? If you do, I can teach you how to pursue him.

Cheng Xinglin agrees, though he's not entirely convinced.

With help from the academic ace twenty years in the future...

Cheng Xinglin gets into the top academic class and shines at all kinds of events, big and small.

In less than a semester, he becomes the most admired guy in the school.

Everything goes smoothly, except he never actually starts pursuing Jian Xing.

Cheng Xinglin: Wait, weren't you going to teach me how to pursue him?

After a brief silence, the other person asks, "You pursue him? What makes him worthy of you? Why should you have to chase him?"

Cheng Xinglin: ???

The Big Academic Ace: You're so wonderful, he has to pursue you. Jian Xing, I suggest you don't take him for granted.

Jian Xing doesn't take him for granted.

After winning the International Mathematical Olympiad, Jian Xing makes a bold announcement in front of the global media: "I'd like to use this opportunity to ask someone I love a question."

"I'm sorry I turned you down. If I make up for it with ten confessions, will you love me again?"

The Big Academic Ace really is Jian Xing, twenty years in the future.

His Cheng Xinglin is absolutely wonderful.

No one should have to pursue Cheng Xinglin. No amount of coaching will make him chase anyone.

Not even himself!

After the Academic Ace Took Me In, I Became the School Heartthrob

Jiang Congran is an unlucky kid whose family has fallen apart. He had to drop out of school and work to pay off their debts.

The unlucky kid dreams of going back to school, studying hard, and improving every day.

So when he sees the academic ace who always ranks first on the school's honor roll being cornered in an alley, he grabs a brick and rushes over to play the hero.

But...

The thugs are no good, and he's even worse.

In the end, Ji Xiangcheng, the only person there who knows how to fight, has to carry the whole team.

Not only does he help Jiang Congran escape, he also shares hot pot and mountain-city beer with him.

After one meal, they go their separate ways. Just as Jiang Congran thinks he'll never see Ji Xiangcheng again, Ji Xiangcheng shows up at the auto repair shop where he works, a schoolbag over his shoulder and one foot braced against the wall.

"School's fun. Why don't you give it another try?"

From then on, Jiang Congran finally gets to live out his own wish-fulfillment school story.

Skipping grades, winning gold at the sports meet, becoming student council vice president, and making a name for himself in the national student union are all well within reach.

He rises steadily, and the only possible stumbling block is that he's secretly in love with Ji Xiangcheng, but can't tell him.

After all, Ji Xiangcheng is his best friend.

If he says anything, they might not even be friends anymore.

Just as Jiang Congran thinks he'll have to carry this secret love with him for the rest of his life, Ji Xiangcheng pulls him close by his schoolbag, leans toward his ear, and chuckles.

"School heartthrob, dating is easy. Want to give it a try?"
