A Strange Beta

By the time Wei Ran realized that something was wrong with this world, he was already fifteen, with only two and a half years left before the college entrance exams.

He had always felt inferior because he was a beta orphan, with no scent, and he always cowered around Alphas.

"There are omegas with soothing pheromones right there, but instead you gnaw on my cervical vertebrae. Doesn't that mean you're sick?" Wei Ran said expressionlessly.

Then, irritated, he punched the Alpha unconscious and made his escape.

"I heard that after I transferred schools, you spent two minutes alone with Pei Xian while he was in heat. Is that true?" The omega who was a fake childhood friend leaned close to Wei Ran's ear and whispered.

Wei Ran raised an eyebrow, a chill creeping down his back.

"So it is true." The crisp sound of military boots striking the floor rang out.

Wei Ran bowed his head humbly.

"If there's nothing else, could you put the gun down for now?"

At first, an approachable genius science student; later, a cold, scheming colonel who steals the prize from right under his rivals' noses, an omega top. And at first, a beta work-study student with no natural enemies and a heart of steel; later, an alien who starts working as a police officer as soon as he graduates, and becomes a corporate drone.
