Gu Jinghuan had mediocre talent and no one to rely on. He was an outer disciple at a small, rundown spirit-plant sect.
Quiet yet dazzling, even when lazily tending spirit plants, he seemed like an immortal gazing down from the ninth heaven.
Unfortunately, he was unlucky. After offending someone, he was left with a body riddled with chronic illnesses.
Rumor had it he had gotten caught up in the entanglement between a figure from an immortal sect and that person's destined partner.
Rumor had it Gu Jinghuan had exhausted himself, giving without asking for anything in return, only to be betrayed by the person closest to him.
Someone asked if he would rather hide far away and live in seclusion in some remote corner to make things work out for his former love.
Gu Jinghuan gave a cold laugh.
It was because he had made a deal with the System, and he only had three chances to fake his death.
The first time, he appeared to be the astonishingly talented first disciple of the Sword Ancestor, but in reality he was jealous of his junior fellow disciple and repeatedly attacked him from the shadows.
In the end, his junior disciple cruelly cut out his sword bones.
The second time, he was a great demon revered as the Imperial Preceptor. He toyed with the Human Emperor, keeping him in the palm of his hand and looming over the imperial city like a shadow.
After reclaiming his throne, the first thing the Human Emperor did was seal him away forever.
The third time, Gu Jinghuan became the young sect master of the Corpse Soul Sect, sharing a body with another soul that was pure and innocent.
By day, Gu Jinghuan robbed and set fires while his neighbor took care of the bodies. At night, when the righteous sects surrounded him and he was on the verge of death, his neighbor would come out and take his place.
In the end, they went their separate ways, and Gu Jinghuan was struck by his now-corrupted neighbor until his soul scattered into oblivion.
It was a great experience. He would rather not experience it again.
When he opened his eyes for the last time, he had finally shed the villain's title and gained a normal life.
No more pushing himself to the limit, and no more testing how low he could go.
...That was what he had thought, anyway.
When he saw his childhood friend chosen to join an immortal sect and become entangled with an inner disciple, while the person presiding over the sect was none other than his former junior fellow disciple, Gu Jinghuan felt something was terribly wrong.
Especially when his junior fellow disciple seemed to recognize him. His old enemy could only clutch his hand, eyes quietly reddening. “...Jinghuan, I missed you so much.”
Gu Jinghuan grew even more tense.
This wasn't right.
System: It really isn't. We're professionals. We guarantee that no one will recognize you in any of your identities. Anyone who could recognize you is already dead.
System: Uh-oh.
System: Nobody is dead. They're all alive.
A few notes:
1. The ending is 1v1. The love interest's identity appears early on, but revealing it would be a spoiler.
2. There will be lots of made-up settings, but nothing too complicated. I'll do my best to make the logic hold together. There are four timelines in total, three in the past and one in the present, so they'll be interwoven.

[Blurb]
Tan Yan died.
He was attending a celebration, alone and away from the spotlight, when he was quietly murdered.
At the moment of his death, he caught a glimpse of everyone around him turning into monsters. Twisted tentacles sprouted from their faces as they watched him coldly.
Half an hour later, Tan Yan opened his eyes again, under another identity.
---When you board a cruise ship that can never dock, what will you do?
Tan Yan wanted to survive. He knew he had fallen into a crack in time. This world offered him no way out, but he kept struggling, searching amid mockery and despair for the one ending in which he could survive.
* Yes!! This is a nonhuman romance!! There is no conventional male lead. The monsters are actual monsters, not like humans, and the protagonist is a genuinely ruthless person. With the face of the innocent, pure-hearted girl who dies first in a horror movie, he reels in the biggest and most terrifying catches.
* Another upcoming novel of mine, After Saving the Demon Venerable, Our Memories Merged, shares this story's world! It contains some spoilers, so I won't include its blurb here. Visit my profile to have a look and add it to your collection~
Theme: Refuse to accept your fate and bravely change the life laid out for you. After repeated failed attempts, find the path that satisfies you most
Sword Ancestor turned out to be his father, he was heartbroken
But these people should be sure that they are all sliced.
Oh my god, that means Qianmian is also one of them (here refers to the ancestors), so Jinghuan's destiny is towards death. They went to change, and without telling the way of heaven, they changed their destiny by replacing flowers and trees.
It's actually good-looking, but the ending just doesn't give me a satisfying feeling. I feel a little sad. I feel so sad after being alone for so long.
Strictly speaking, it starts high and ends low - but looking at the whole story, the only thing that really made me think "the road is narrow" is the ending. Overall, this is the most perfect book I have read this year.
I finished watching it and I felt the ending was a bit rushed.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that I finished reading it. I'm not convinced. The writing in big letters is really good and I like it. In fact, I jumped at it at first, and then the more I read, the more I read it. I really like the writing style and the plot is awesome. It is my favorite novel that I have read this year. I think some of the best-selling novels I have read before are really good-looking. I don't know why so few people read it.
This ending doesn't feel like a bad ending. It's just that I'm used to the grand and happy completion, so it makes people feel unwilling. I'm also very sad. I couldn't sleep today if I didn't add a plain and happy side story to them in my heart. I watched it for several days in one go. I felt so sad for everyone in it.
(HE),,,…
I really like this story, and I love and feel sorry for everyone in it, whether it's every piece or the supporting characters who remember the protagonist deeply in my heart. Whenever I watch it, I get very excited and want to see what everyone has to say in the comment area. But I end up with either no comments or all "clicking on the claws"... Ugh...
It sucks. Also, when I first collected this article, the advance copy I was interested in was Yunliang's Green Tea Apprentice. I don't know if the author can still write it. It's really sad to change the payment in advance when I open the article.
Although, it still felt like it was unfinished, I can't say it, it just ended suddenly, it felt like I had been waiting for a long time, and I didn't expect anything in the end. Maybe my expectations were too high. I really liked Jing Huan, but I was still a little sad.
That Lu hasn't appeared for a long time. Is he also a Thousand Faces clone? The Human Emperor is dead? Tantai was beaten away, and Qianmian was destined to die, leaving only Xie Wuwang.
Claw, now from any angle, you can be sure it's Xie Wuwang.
