The Substitute Switched Careers to Become a Gold Digger

As a lowly resident of the slums, Bai Xu had always yearned for everything the upper class had to offer.

Gritting his teeth, he invented a respectable identity and infiltrated their world.

Gradually, he noticed that all the powerful people shared the same idealized beloved. He began to imitate him clumsily, learning his elegant mannerisms and gentle principles for treating others, even to the point of being unwilling to step on a passing ant.

Bai Xu began reaping all kinds of benefits. Taking advantage of their soft hearts, he managed to get his hands on quite a bit of money.

He made a fortune, but just when he was feeling most pleased with himself, he heard that their shared beloved had returned.

Bai Xu: It's time to take the money and make a graceful exit.

Just as he was leaving, he received another job offer.

His new employer happened to have exactly the same face as the beloved.

When the original and the impostor meet, everyone knows the impostor is in for a bad end. Bai Xu was so scared his legs trembled.

Unexpectedly, his employer merely lifted his eyelids lazily. "What did you do to them? Do the same to me."

Trembling all over, Bai Xu nervously said, "Darling, I saw some couture jewelry I like. Will you buy it for me?"

His employer smiled softly, then turned around and had the jewelry Bai Xu wanted delivered right to him.

With trembling hands, Bai Xu contacted a secondhand luxury goods dealer. "Darling, I got another set of jewelry. Take a look. About how much could I get for it?"

The beloved stopped smiling. His expression darkened as he looked at Bai Xu. "They're them. I'm me."

Bai Xu found that a little strange, but what was even stranger was this: why had all his former employers come looking for him again?
