At his birthday party, a friend asks Xia Zhiyu helplessly, "With your personality, how are you going to win over someone like Chen Jiayu?"

Xia Zhiyu looks toward the center of the room. He's curled up on the sofa, playing on his phone, his cool demeanor and features washed in laser lights. People crowd around him, eagerly offering birthday wishes, but he only gives them a casual smile.

She stays in the darkest corner and shakes her head with a bitter smile.

"I never planned to win him over."

Someone like Chen Jiayu has always been adored by everyone.

As soon as she finishes speaking, her phone lights up. A message from him appears.

[Junior.]

[Are you going to hide from me on my birthday, too?]

Later, when they get together, nobody around them approves. They wonder how someone as haughty and hard to tame as Chen Jiayu could ever dote on anyone.

One day, Xia Zhiyu drinks too much. The city blurs before her eyes, and the boy carrying her seems as far away as the moon reflected in water.

Her vision blurs for a moment. In a tiny voice, she says,

"Chen Jiayu, you never kiss me."

The person carrying her pauses, his Adam's apple bobbing. In full view of the crowd behind them, he sets the young woman down.

Xia Zhiyu is still dazed. He has already lowered his head and lifted her chin, his voice low and unhurried as he coaxes her.

"Come on. Kiss me."

It takes Xia Zhiyu a long time to learn that even Chen Jiayu can feel jealous.

That day, she explains helplessly, "...I really only think of him as a brother."

His eyes darken. "You've only ever called me senior."

After calling him "big brother" all night, Xia Zhiyu's throat is sore. Then she hears the person buried against her neck murmur, "And you used to have a crush on someone."

He keeps hinting at someone else, and Xia Zhiyu wants to laugh and cry at the same time.

She lowers her head and ruffles his hair like she would a dog's. "Have you ever considered that it was you?"
