When Ling Bu was thrust into this eternal night, he thought he'd merely fallen from one hell into another.

The outside world called him useless. Here, everyone greeted him with bright smiles. The hot milk his upperclassman handed him fizzed with eerie bubbles. The task notes his senior girl shoved into his hands were covered in bloody annotations. Even the classmates he passed in the hallway whispered among themselves:

"Catch him, and you'll learn his name."

"Become his friend, and you can leave this hellhole."

Ling Bu gripped his backpack strap until his fingertips went white. He understood: at this school, names were passwords to clearing the game, and affection was the sharpest blade.

Then, on a rainy night, several "friends" cornered him in the hallway. Just as he was about to blurt out his name, a bloodstained hand clamped over his mouth.

"Want to die?"

Blood-red eyes gleamed in the gloom. The boy grabbed the back of his neck and pinned him against the wall, fresh blood still at the corner of his mouth. "Your name isn't something you can just give away."

Ling Bu saw the murderous intent surging in his eyes, yet in that crimson gaze, he also found a hint of unsettling obsession.

He later learned that this madman named Ye Jin was the school's most notorious taboo.

He had crushed a mission boss's skull with his bare hands and nailed a student to the roof of the school for trying to steal his "prey." Yet every full moon, without fail, he appeared outside Ling Bu's dorm room.

"Come with me for tonight's mission."

"Are they bothering you again? Should I take care of the bodies?"

"Remember, you can only tell me your name."

Curled up in the corner, Ling Bu watched Ye Jin lick the blood from his fingertips and suddenly felt that this eternal night wasn't quite so cold after all.

But when the countdown for the tenth mission began, and Ye Jin's blood-red eyes reflected his name for the first time, Ling Bu finally realized...

The so-called password to clearing the game had never been meant to help anyone escape.

It was meant to lock someone forever in one's own eternal night.

A student: "Ling Bu! Tell me your name and I'll give you all the items I've saved up!"

Ye Jin smiled sweetly as he snapped the student's wrist. "His name is worth ten lives."

Ling Bu (tugging at his sleeve): "Stop killing people. The mission's about to start."

Ye Jin turned around, instantly switching to an obedient expression. "Okay! Then should I cut his tongue out first?"
