The Heartthrob Is Always 'Teasing' Me

The Seventh Microfiction Extra

The Nth time Ji Yan pinned Lin Xi behind the dormitory door, Lin Xi was holding a love letter from a girl, at a complete loss for what to do.

The man rested his chin on top of Lin Xi's head. His cedar-scented breath brushed over the nape of Lin Xi's neck, and he deliberately hooked a finger in the hem of Lin Xi's shirt, tugging him into his arms. "Which girl were you chatting with just now? You seemed to be having a great time. Let me have a sniff..."

Warm breath swept across Lin Xi's collarbone. He stiffened in fright, then heard the girl behind him fleeing down the hall. Angry and flustered, he snapped, "Ji Yan! Stop messing around!"

Ji Yan chuckled, tightening his arms around Lin Xi. Calling out to the now-empty corridor, he said, "Can't you see I'm flirting with my sweetheart? Take the hint and get lost."

Buried against Ji Yan's chest, Lin Xi's face burned bright red. He couldn't understand why the campus heartthrob, adored by every girl at school, was always teasing him. He'd sneakily ruffle Lin Xi's hair while he napped, steal the only drumstick from his bowl, and immediately act possessive whenever Lin Xi got close to anyone.

Then one day, a friend who was a fujoshi laughed so hard she could barely stand. "You silly boy, he's jealous! Believe me, if you sneak into his bed tonight, you'll be in for a surprise."

Half convinced, Lin Xi crept to Ji Yan's bed in the middle of the night, his heart pounding. The moment he lifted the covers, a powerful arm yanked him into a scorching embrace.

In the darkness, Ji Yan's kiss landed on the tip of his ear. His voice was hoarse, as if seared by fire. "I've held myself back for so long. And now you finally came to me on your own?"

Only then did Lin Xi realize that the affection hidden in all that teasing had long since crossed the line of friendship.
