The Deity Invited to Marry Down Is a Fudanshi

Microfiction Side Story Series: Side Story 6

[The Deity's Favorite Ship Came True]

Chen Tan has spent his whole life haunted by two things.

First, his ill-fated destiny, with all five elements in his chart belonging to yin. Second, his ghostly immortal wife, whose name he has heard but whose face he has never seen.

The villagers say that this ghostly immortal big sister was summoned through a blood sacrifice to suppress his fate. He must provide for and respect her, and never, ever offend her.

Chen Tan has always remembered that, until he realized...

Whenever he chatted a little too long with Yun'er from the village entrance, a strange wind would blow him straight over to Mu Yunfei.

Whenever he accepted wild fruit from A Hua next door, he would turn around, slip, and fall right into Mu Yunfei's arms.

Whenever he worked up the courage to confess his feelings to a girl, before he could even open his mouth, a whirlwind would sweep him right in front of Mu Yunfei. He could only watch as Mu Yunfei cut him off: "Chen Tan is mine."

Chen Tan: "???"

Later, Mu Yunfei cornered him beneath the old locust tree, his gaze burning. "Chen Tan, I like you. Be with me."

Chen Tan instinctively tried to refuse. "No, the immortal big sister will..."

Before he could finish, a strange wind sprang up.

He stumbled and crashed straight into Mu Yunfei's arms. In an instant, they were less than a foot apart, their breaths mingling.

A faint, nearly inaudible laugh seemed to come from above.

Chen Tan looked up and saw only peach petals falling from the sky, and Mu Yunfei's smiling eyes just inches away.

"Looks like," Mu Yunfei whispered in his ear as he leaned down, "the immortal big sister approves, too."

Ghostly immortal big sister: Thanks for asking. The ship I shipped finally got its happy ending. Controlling the wind is so much fun.

Chen Tan: Weren't you supposed to suppress my fate? How did that turn into forcibly setting us up?!

Mu Yunfei: Thanks for playing matchmaker, immortal big sister. I've got myself a husband.

[Gentle, frail bottom x sunny, fiercely protective top]

1. The deity ships couples with boundless magic, and the strange wind is proof.

2. Everyone in the village knows Chen Tan belongs to Mu Yunfei, except Chen Tan himself, who's the last to catch on.

3. One-on-one, happy ending, sweet from start to finish with no angst. The deity plays matchmaker, and the sweetness is off the charts.
