A Mermaid Hatchling Makes Money Online

Shi Yang, a merman, finally reached the end of the plot after forcing himself on the male lead and villainizing the love interest countless times: he set off to roam the world with a baby in tow.

He checked the pitiful breakup money in his pocket and opened an aquarium at the end of an alley, putting up a sign:

Baby merman, performing live. You can touch, but it'll cost extra.

An aquarium in a run-down alley in Nancheng has recently become a huge hit. Word has it there's a baby merman inside who not only entertains the audience of big sisters, but can also perform a complete set of broadcast calisthenics underwater.

The aquarium's owner is an exceptionally handsome young man. In his spare time, he likes to sit in front of the tank with a fishing rod and try to catch the baby merman. His melancholy, refined profile attracts more and more... high-quality customers?

Top-tier star: He's my muse.

Mixed-race painter: My paintings come alive because of him.

Taking it easy and getting rich, Shi Yang was deeply moved. “A photo together costs ten thousand. Scan the code here. Thanks for your business.”

One day, a variety show was filmed at the aquarium.

Gu Mingli, the show's big boss behind the scenes, was invited to take part in the opening ceremony.

The moment he walked in, the little merman leaped out of the tank, swishing his tail and calling in a sweet little voice, “Daddy! Daddy!”

Gu Mingli: “?”

Everyone: “?”

The little merman kept babbling: “Abandoned your wife and child! Abandoned your wife and child!”

Gu Mingli: “?”

Drawn by the sound, the aquarium's owner swept aside the curtain and revealed a face more handsome than any of the celebrities present.

He took in the scene and furrowed his brow slightly, his voice clear and bright. “Don't take it seriously. It's just a solo comedy routine by a merman. If the bosses want to hear more, we've got a shark version and a whale version, and, uh... a salmon version?”

Everyone: “...”

Gu Mingli: “...”

As a good merman of the twenty-first century, Shi Yang reflects on his fishy life three times a day:

1. Obey the law.

2. Do my best to put an end to the illegal employment of fish.

3. But my coworkers are really delicious.

Overachieving wealthy CEO gong x gorgeous, unmotivated, lie-flat loser fish shou

Reading notes:

1. The shou doesn't conform to traditional human morality and lies flat, while the gong is just into that sort of thing [not really].

2. This is a story written with total abandon, just for fun. Happy New Year.

Theme: Love life and keep striving every day.
