How Did I Fall Under Your Spell?

I never wondered

why I loved you so much,

from the first time we met to the end,

we crossed the distance between life and death.

I never wondered

why I became so obsessed,

even though you were no longer you,

my feelings never faded.

I never wondered

why I missed you so much,

even after you had passed on,

my soul had followed you away.

Still, you appear in my dreams.

Little Scene

Bai Leng (Bai Xiaoxue), puzzled: What made you fall for me?

Hua Feng thought for a moment: Maybe because you seemed so pitiful.

Bai Leng: ...All right.

A modern-day story set in an alternate world. It's an emotionally frustrating read, so don't start if that's not your thing.

The female lead, Bai Leng, switched names with her cousin Bai Xiaoxue due to circumstances surrounding her birth, so she goes by Bai Xiaoxue in the early chapters. I don't think I'll explain it clearly, but fortunately, hardly anyone is reading this. My hometown is known for its snow and ice, and the cold is what left the strongest impression on me, so I gave the female lead this name.

The male lead, Hua Feng, is named after the long-established Chinese instant noodle brand Huafeng. He comes from a wealthy family, but his parents died in a car accident when he was young. He was an academic ace as a student, and grew up to become a computer expert and a gentle CEO.

I wrote over forty chapters before and kept agonizing over whether to revise them, since that would mean rewriting everything. In the end, I decided to revise it.

Theme: No matter what happens, remain kind, cherish life, and keep striving.
