Pride and Prejudice: Is Mary in a Bad Mood Today?

Of the five Bennet sisters, Miss Mary Bennet was the ugliest and most ordinary bloom.

Ever since she learned to speak, she had been the main source of torment for Mrs. Bennet's delicate nerves.

The Bennets had even prepared themselves for the possibility that Mary would never marry.

So it astonished the entire Bennet family, and even all of Longbourn, when Mary did marry.

And she made a rather good match, too.

In fact,

Mary herself was pretty astonished...

Darcy is Mary's love interest; Jane is paired with Bingley; Lizzy is paired with the heir to The Times, in a nod to the awkward life of Jane Bennet; Lydia will marry Wickham and later divorce him.

The romance develops later in the story. The plot mainly follows the everyday growth of the five Bennet sisters.
