[Literary Crossover] There's No Way I'm Getting a Job

Cheng Hailiu, 22, is studying at Yokohama National University and works four shifts a week at a sushi restaurant in Ikebukuro to make ends meet.

Before that, she was an independent mercenary who struck without hesitation. She trained under the underworld's number-one hitman, flirted with the wildest Port Mafia executive, and kept company with the richest Vongola Don. Evil organizations had tried to recruit her, but in her arrogant words at the time:

"Working a part-time job? I'd never do that in my life."

Now, all she can do is drink the customers' leftover, ice-cold beer after her shift with a Black coworker who is also a former mercenary, and reminisce about the glory days of her youth, blade in hand.

As for why she suddenly vanished three years ago, some say an old injury flared up and her enemies ground her remains into cement, quietly plastering her into a wall. Others say she finally accepted a job offer and became some crime syndicate's dog in the shadows... Still others claim she traded the promise to "never kill again" to the Grim Reaper, then washed her hands of her past for good. Her exes all scoff at that story.

Until they found themselves face-to-face with Cheng Hai, who was watering down the sake, in a sushi restaurant.

"...Dine in or take out?" (awkward grin)
