How Did I End Up Switching Sides to Become a Villain?!

Hello, I’m a busy corporate drone. I currently work at the Special Ability Investigation Department. I’m not really sure why this unit is called that, but at least it’s an official organization, and I’m a civil servant now. Every day, my job is to punch holes in the cookies ordered for their afternoon tea. It sounds like a busy job, though no one knows what we’re busy doing. Just like my name: Shang Yuexiayue. I thought my life would stay calm as still water forever, until one day a foreigner came looking for me and asked me to work for him. As if! Would I say yes? I’m a civil servant! I said yes, because he offered way too much money. You see, I’m a hopelessly illiterate fool. After causing one disaster after another at my new workplace, my boss put me on the sidelines. After taking a fat salary for nothing for several months, I came to my senses. I started asking my boss about his dream and decided to do everything in my power to help him achieve it. He answered: Everything he did was to purify the world. He wanted the world to be filled with happiness. That’s when I understood. We’re a cleaning company! Good heavens, what a noble and simple dream! After I’d spent several months diligently sweeping the streets, my boss came to see me again. He looked at me with a complicated expression, as if he had something to say but couldn’t bring himself to say it. At last, I understood. I seemed to have gotten something wrong. I’d gone from being a civil servant to a criminal! How could this happen! What kind of place is this?! [Note] 1. The main text is not written in first person.
