[Seven Fairies] The Past Disperses Like Smoke (King Yin Shi X Queen Mother)

I've realized that this man has been following me for a while.

Lately, I keep seeing him in different places. He seems to be taking care of something himself, not deliberately following me.

But his gaze always meets mine, and in the end, he gives me a smile.

Something I can't understand flickers in his eyes.

The sunlight beyond the window is dazzling. I don't know whether I'm awake or dreaming. Do people really have past and present lives?

Who is standing beneath the flowering tree, smiling brightly at me? And who, amid the sunlight and drifting clouds, told me that we were supposed to be deeply in love?

I look up. The person before me is still watching me with a gentle smile, yet it feels as if he isn't looking at me at all, but at a figure from thousands of years ago.

01 Inspired by Hua Zhou's song "Gui Qu Lai Xi":

"I bid farewell to the three realms and five elements, seeking freedom on my own. This journey will take years; the wilds will see the seasons change.

The past scatters like clouds and smoke; ten inches of time traded for a coin. Alone among mountains and waters, my ears hear no cruel words or idle gossip.

I raise my head and ask the heavens: when will I be able to reach the underworld? I wandered on and off through several centuries, watching bustling streets and bright lights become desolate."

02 Yin Shi Wang x Wang Mu, a beloved melodramatic reincarnation-and-amnesia trope, with many personal headcanons and out-of-character elements.
