Suddenly, It's Summer

[Short Story · Jicheng Memoirs Series · Two] [A short, straightforward account] [Adapted from the author's real experiences] [The first love of a carefree boy and a girl who only pretends to be proper] Hey, Sheng Ming, do you remember? The cicadas beginning to sing in early summer, the bright leaves, the faint fragrance carried on the wind. And all those thoughts the passage of time forgot. They all evaporated in the early summer sunshine that year. You turned away, and years went by. He took his schoolbag and tossed it onto the desk with a bang, sending dust swirling through the air. He flashed a row of white teeth. "Hey, new deskmate. Li Mo." His name was Sheng Ming. He was very thin, with dark skin, but when he smiled, his teeth were dazzlingly white. I didn't know why, but a feeling I couldn't put into words stirred deep inside me. Still, I smiled and said, "My name is Li Mo." Jicheng Memoirs Series: Mai is from Jinan, Shandong. After coming to the capital to study, she grew increasingly nostalgic for the hometown so many people had been fooled about by Lao She's Winter in Jinan. This mild-mannered, unassuming city holds countless untold stories, ordinary or extraordinary, hidden in its street corners and alleyways, amid the streams of cars and crowds of people. This is a series of short stories, all adapted from real events, whether heard from others or drawn from Mai's own experiences. I hope they resonate with you. Theme:
