Reader's Note:
The Gryffindor trio of saviors are the banner and backbone of the fight against the Dark Lord. In contrast, a "Doomsday Trio" has quietly emerged from the Slytherin mire, centered on Reese Garcia.
They embody the Slytherin spirit: elegant, cunning, and ambitious, while also masters of sidestepping danger. They're fence-sitters who belong to neither side, opportunists who want to have it all.
As the Dark Lord nears his return and the wizarding world descends into chaos, the three of them choose to deceive those above and below them, follow the wind, and play both loyal attack dogs and long-suffering undercover agents.
No matter which side wins in the end, they'll take every advantage they can and come out unscathed.
Romance is merely an embellishment of human nature. Magic is decoration set upon the seat of power. Only power itself shines forever.
"The overall tone is rather strange. Literary works inevitably involve personal interpretation, so please enter at your own risk.
There are many original characters.
The story won't stray from the original in its broad strokes.
The parts described in the blurb begin in Volume Two. Volume One lays out a rather extensive foundation of settings. If you don't like original content mixed in, you can start reading from Volume Two, then go back to Volume One to familiarize yourself with the setting if you're interested.
To be clear, this work aims to interpret the original from the Slytherin perspective. It only emphasizes the protagonist team's 'motives,' deriving their methods from the worldview, and won't change key plot points.
Also, it's unrealistic for eleven-year-old children to engage in political maneuvering. The characters gradually develop through all kinds of experiences, building a complete sense of self and their own aspirations. So the story takes a little while to warm up."
I also need to tell everyone about one of the story's hidden threads, which is part of the heroine's characterization:
In Volume One, Reese has not yet developed a complete worldview. She is still a transparent, bewildered vessel, filled with everything her family has poured into her. She is a shard of light refracted by the surname Garcia.
Reese Garcia is not the next generation recognized by her family. She is merely a mass-produced symbol, a glittering ornament placed at the edge of their social circle.
The pursuit of outward perfection is one of the central themes of Reese Garcia's life. From childhood, she was taught to maintain her dignity and composure at all times, with just the right amount of restraint, and to set herself apart from other social circles through a dazzling lifestyle. Magic's appearance may have sorted her into another world, but the two worlds lead to the same place, sharing the same unspoken assumptions in most respects.
Extreme material indulgence, glittering couture and luxury watches, a privileged class that can turn the clouds with one hand and the rain with the other... In a sense, how is the world of the wealthy any different from Slytherin? Both are populated by those at the top, who do everything they can to squeeze out resources and refuse to share their cake in any way.
Power brings status, status divides people into classes, classes make the rules, and rules protect the winners.
But wizards would never criticize the Dark Lord for whether his clothes were smart enough. He doesn't need that to prove his superior status. Such superficial pursuits are merely byproducts of power, trappings that the upper classes use to console themselves once the class system is set in stone.
"You are a miracle even magic could not create," the young Dark Lord told Reese. His features were deep-set, his manner both solemn and wicked, and the blazing ambition in his eyes could almost tear a hole in the sky.
"How should I win you over? Please, my dear Reese, conquer the world with me. Let everyone grovel at our feet. Only you and I will remain standing."
It was a difficult choice. Years later, Reese finally found an answer she was satisfied with.
Money and power were simply different kinds of currency to her. She wanted to use them to buy her freedom: to pursue outward perfection or not care about it at all; to seek a life of grand adventures or simply lounge around, living off her trust fund. She could name thousands of examples. The power she wanted was the power to choose.
"You don't need to win me over, Tom," Reese said, though Tom could no longer hear her answer. "The power you have comes from your strength, but your strength exceeds your understanding. In the end, it will consume you. You can't have ambition that you can't control, but you won't listen to me."
"I don't want that much. Compared to you, all I want is a little."

[The whole story is being reformatted, and about ten thousand words will be added. It should be done around New Year's, so there's no need to wait for updates right now.]
Thank you so much for all your support. I'll do my best to finish the story.
Work keeps me busy, so I'll aim to update three chapters a week. I may revise the story from time to time.
Mr. Liu's appearance is based on John Cho.
Christopher's appearance is based on Andy Samberg.
