I Became My Archenemy's Bird [Interstellar]

Gu Qiongyin, a beastfolk general, couldn't understand how she'd woken up decades in the future as a sickly young lady. Her original beast form was a bird no bigger than a fist.

Even more exasperating, the first person she saw upon waking was her childhood friend and sworn enemy.

That person was now the emperor of the entire interstellar empire. Since ascending the throne, His Majesty had remained chaste and left the empress's seat empty. Many suspected he was impotent. Only two years ago, under relentless appeals from his subjects, had he finally chosen an empress, and they had gotten engaged just a few days ago.

And that's where things get really terrible.

Gu Qiongyin: Yes, I'm that unlucky empress.

When word spread that the emperor's alien fiancée, who was supposedly good for nothing except her adorable beast form, was coming to study at the military academy, the emperor's fans there waited eagerly to see the useless pretty face make a fool of herself.

Hah. As if just any good-for-nothing could pass the preparatory exams.

They thought the pretty face would choose interstellar history and maybe learn to cook and embroider. Instead, she chose mecha combat without a moment's hesitation, with a minor in battleship command.

They thought she'd give up after three days. Instead, she placed first in both mecha combat and simulated command, breaking the rules set by her predecessors and earning special admission to the military academy.

Even the famously difficult top student in the mecha department admitted defeat before her.

The emperor's fans: That's no sparrow, that's a man-eating bird, right?!

At last, the first course that made Gu Qiongyin's scalp tingle appeared: The Personal History of General Qiongyin.

It was her own biography. The narration was overly familiar, and the wording was unbearably saccharine. She read two pages, and goosebumps rose from the soles of her feet to the tips of her ears.

Unable to take it anymore, Gu Qiongyin flipped to the title page to see which idiot had written this trash.

Gu Qiongyin: ...

The author was her sworn enemy: the esteemed emperor himself.

Theme: Discrimination will eventually come full circle. Equality is the path to peace.
