Cheng Zhi, the human world's lucky koi, never imagined that when it came to stealing someone's sweetheart, he had managed to avoid Huangfu Yi more than ten years ago, only to fail to avoid his disciple more than ten years later.

“I hear Yuan Shanjian is slyer than a fox. Who knows what he's plotting by coming here?”

When the Cheng family moved house, Cheng Zhi heard General Wan muttering beside his elder brother. He looked up and saw a jade-like young gentleman as elegant as a gentle breeze and bright moon. Cheng Zhi admired him in secret, felt he was probably being unjustly maligned, and even went so far as to argue on his behalf.

Later, at the betrothal banquet for the Cheng and Yuan families, General Wan smacked his lips over his fine wine and said:

“Third Master Cheng, see? Wasn't I right?”

“You were defending him back then, and now look: that Yuan Shanjian, slyer than a fox, has schemed his way into the Yuan family with the daughter you spent more than ten years raising like a precious treasure.”

Cheng Musang × Yuan Shanjian

Bright and well-behaved (fake) × sharp-tongued and aloof (for real)

“Ruoruo and I will be in perfect harmony, growing old together.”
