[Historical romance, The Prairie Ablaze, currently updating in the author's collection]

Spring, Year 23 of Xia'an.

After suffering repeated defeats at the hands of Daxia, the neighboring state of Chuliang sought peace by offering its Third Prince, Pei Xigu, as a plaything to curry favor with Princess Song Qichi, the most honored woman in Daxia. Pei Xigu was blessed with peerless beauty, yet despised because of his mother's lowly birth.

Seeing the slender, handsome boy locked in an iron cage, Song Qichi couldn't bear it. To save his life, she had no choice but to pretend to accept the gift.

Then the tides turned. Daxia was defeated, and its emperor, desperate to save his kingdom, painfully offered Song Qichi to Chuliang's young king, a ruthless ruler feared by all.

Tears welled in Song Qichi's eyes, draining the color from her lovely face. Trembling, she cowered in a corner of the golden cage. Everyone waited to see how the once most beautiful flower of Daxia would be tormented by the brutal king.

But they waited and waited, only to see Pei Xigu open the cage with his own hands, bend down, and lift her into his arms. His eyes reddened, his voice trembling. "Qichi, don't be afraid."

[Alluring, gentle-hearted Daxia princess x restrained, ruthless, obsessive, devoted prince of a neighboring kingdom]
