Red Plum Blossoms and White Snow

Yu Wei is the legitimate daughter of the Minister's household. She should have lived a life of luxury, but after a change of dynasty, the Yu family backed the losing side. The new emperor had every male member of the family killed, and all the women were made into government servants.

Yu Wei went from a noblewoman envied by everyone in the capital to a palace servant anyone could bully, enduring humiliation and abuse.

In the depths of winter, with snow falling heavily, she knelt outside the imperial study in a thin garment, letting the cold snow cover her from head to toe.

Then the young Imperial Tutor, who held all the power at court, stood before her and bent down to say, "Get up."

Yu Wei looked up in a daze.

Gu Yunxiu gazed at the slender but still radiant young woman before him, his thoughts returning to a year earlier.

A bitter wind whipped up fine snowflakes as he knelt outside the vermilion gates of the Yu residence, begging the Yu family to investigate the injustice done to his own family.

No one answered him. Only Yu Wei came down the stone steps through the deep snow. Her cloak, embroidered with red plum blossoms, trailed over the white ground as she opened her thin umbrella above his head.

She said, "Get up."

Love deepened and blossomed in their hearts. Only the red plum blossoms and white snow knew.

* A fallen noblewoman x a ruthless powerbroker
